This series, River Rat – “Hustle, Heroism, and Hubris: The Pete Rose Conundrum,” delves into the report along with many other articles and books written and the complexities surrounding Rose. Like many, Pete Rose was my baseball idol. His “Charlie Hustle” persona, the way he played the game with every fiber of his being, deeply resonated with me. But the Dowd Report forced a harsh reality check.
