We replay full radio broadcasts from before 1974, when storytelling lived through the airwaves. These games are now part of the public domain, free to be heard again, and we want to share them with a world that could use a little slowing down.

Baseball Buddha Radio is not about nostalgia. It is about reconnecting with baseball’s heartbeat, a time when you could listen, imagine, and drift into the game instead of being shouted at by it.

This offseason, we want to make it easier to listen. You can now replay classic games on your preferred podcast platform. It is a way to fill the winter quiet with the warmth of baseball’s past.

When February arrives and pitchers and catchers report, the “new old” games return. More full broadcasts, more timeless moments, more echoes of a simpler game.

I found a 1969 LP called The Miracle Mets – From Marvelous Marv to a Miracle: In Play-by-Play Action on eBay. It tells the story of the New York Mets from their first season in 1962 through their 1969 World Series win. Narrated by Lindsey Nelson, Side A covers the early years, and Side B features game audio from WJRZ and WHN broadcasts of the ’69 season. The back cover includes a piece by sportswriter Dick Young and photos of Nelson, Bob Murphy, and Ralph Kiner. Pressed by Fleetwood Recording Co.

Fleetwood Sports – Baseball Collection

I found this album at a vintage store: “The Year of the Tiger '68.” It’s a narrated recap of the Detroit Tigers’ 1968 season, featuring game highlights, player interviews, and radio calls. It covers their 103-win regular season, Denny McLain’s 31 victories, and the Tigers’ comeback in the World Series against the Cardinals. Mickey Lolich’s three complete-game wins, including Game 7, are a big focus. It’s a great audio snapshot of one of the most memorable years in Tigers history.

Fleetwood Records – Purchased from eBay

I picked up a copy of "...And This One Belongs to the Reds!" — a 1975 vinyl record produced by Fleetwood and narrated by Reds broadcaster Marty Brennaman. It recaps the Cincinnati Reds’ 1975 season and features game highlights, player moments, and Brennaman’s early calls, including the line that became his trademark: “And this one belongs to the Reds!”

This was the year the Reds won 108 games and the World Series, and the record captures the excitement of that run. These Fleetwood releases were sold to fans through radio promotions and stadium shops — made as keepsakes for the season.

It’s a great addition to the collection and a solid piece of Reds history.
