The Reds were a great team but game 7 of the WS was lost by Sox manager’s relief pitching decision. My company had Red Sox season tickets and I was fortunate enough to control them. Thus I went to all four games in Boston as well as one in Cincinnati. The teams were dead even after six games and 8 innings Sox reliever Jim Willoughby had retired all four Reds he faced as his sinker was working to perfection but manager Darell Johnson replaced righty Willoughby with lefty Jim Burton to start the ninth. I was so upset my wife had to tell me to sit down and be quiet. A walk, a sacrifice, a groundout, another walk and a Joe Morgan single and the series was over.
