Though I know comparisons aren’t usually good things, I’ve always thought that baseball was a little like a grove of trees. It begins to bud and leaf with fresh growth in Spring. Becomes full and majestic all Summer. Turns golden and radiant in October. Then moves all its energy and life into its hidden roots come Winter.
