“You grew up in Ashland around the same time this book came out,” Alexi said, her curiosity evident. “Do you ever wonder who wrote it?” She paused before adding, “Do you remember anyone whose mom died around that time?” She grabbed the book from the bookshelf as I mentally beat myself up for pointing it out.
