I love this analogy. The baseball season has a rhythm to it, the days are scheduled around which teams are playing, which teams are next. September has the anticipation of the playoffs but also of the transition to the next part of the season, and of the year. I hadn’t thought of it compared to a writing schedule but it makes perfect sense! Keep going strong, we’re here till the end!

Funny but I think of baseball all year. Perhaps as a longtime Angels fan September usually means playing meaningless games but i’m already thinking ahead. Hoping against logic.

The good thing about being an Angels fan in January is the distinct lack of frustration!

Dodgers are my #1, always have been and will be. But their trajectory this season makes me uncomfortable, but then that's just the Dodgers being the Dodgers.

I'd really like to see the Jays or Tigers go all the way.

The baseball season is a microcosm of life, isn't it? - edited...i wrote 'macrocosm' :/

Great points, and as Garry said, love the analogy. You get to September after writing about baseball for the entire season, and it hits you that there are only two months (including the postseason) remaining.

Since I began writing Baseball Fan Perspective in early 2023, I know that exact feeling you're talking about. You don't want it to necessarily end, but you look forward to taking a little break after the season concludes. My blog is year-round, but so far in the three years I've been writing it, that period between November and usually mid-December is a welcome time. A chance to take a breath and a break from the game. Your mind needs it.

The rhythm of spring, summer, fall, and winter sleep — just one more way baseball is like life.
