Oh, wow. That was very moving. Another awful example of “the good die young.” Thanks for the read.

That was so beautifully written that i can’t get this tragic feeling of an honorable man life being cut short out of my head.

Longtime Angels fan. I can remember listening to the game the next day and how the announcers were in a fog. Beyond horrible.

Thank you.

I enjoy your writing. Very much.

As a baseball fan who likes the history of the game as much as watching one today, it’s perfect.

I became a fan of baseball a few years after this, so I don't remember it in person. But what a tragic end for a person who seems like they would have done a lot of good, had they lived on.

Great post. For those interested there's a very good podcast series narrated by Tom Rinaldi 'We call him Wesley' iwhich was Lyman Bostock's middle name. 8 parts. Worth it.

Thanks for sharing that I listened to parts 1-7 this afternoon and plan to finish the series today. Really good work by Tom Rinaldi and his team.

Beautiful piece. I recall having the same thoughts on Munson’s death, even before I was a baseball fan. Something about seeing the news stories on tv and realizing, as a kid, the finality of death.

Beautiful writing. Such a sad story.

I enjoyed this, very poignant. I had no idea Bostock did that with his salary...wow. I can think of several players who *should*, including another current Angels player who I won't name!

The Angels Curse has always spooked me.
